゜✧*̣̩☽⋆゜ Escape room (2020)

I was invited to do something at Stroom Den Haag institution and I invited several artist friend (and audience) to create there and hang out with me.

This time (u know Corona times) makes me think a lot about positive and necessary challenge that slowing down and
working at home has for our society. The idea of turning out from extroverted society busy with
external sources of entertainment in to introverted goods. It´s potential to relief the planet from
mining and over consuming the products. Let´s get deeper in to inner world at home and open up
what we find there to the world.

In a reflection on this long lock in period I´m creating Living room where I´m inviting artist to work
or/and bring an artwork and show the positive aspects and our ability to adapt on this time in playful
way. In the main time the visitor can step in and read/look/listen, while enjoying coffee at the
table...the next day some works might appear or disappear as well as in our real living room space.
In my work I´m often busy with using the forms of common phenomena and adding new and
different content in it. In this way I first open the perception of the visitor by looking at a familiar
object/place and while the person is open to this as to something normal and accepted, the person is
already infected by the new ideas.

Therefore to have a living room at the official institution that is open for public again feels so playful.
The name Escape Room reacts on games of predetermined length of time in which a person or group
is locked in a puzzle room and must solve all of the puzzles. Me and the artist I invited are working
with the forms of living room to play with the viewer imagination and ideas about home, life and art.
The works will be changing in time and will be based on our own art practice and also our meetings
and cooperation in period of at one week.

You will be confronted by living room guest artist Katerina Sidorova, Sarah Atzory, Martin Gabriel,
Gijsje Heemskerk and me.
Our project might turn in to official home party and anyone is invited to join if you are not afraid.
